Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – Orleans, Monroe and Wayne Counties

September 7, 2016

Mariners are advised that bridge washing activities have begun on New York State Department of Transportation bridges between Marshall Road (E-212) in Orleans County and Lyons-Mar Road, Cr 344 (E-96) in Wayne County. There are 72 bridges to be washed.

These activities will continue until the closed of the navigation season.

Work is to be completed by pontoon boat. A safety spotter will be positioned on the craft to minimize disruption to the boating public.

Mariners should proceed with caution through these areas and stop all forward motion and proceed at a "No-Wake" speed.
