Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal - Middleport to Galen

August 10, 2016

Mariners are advised that bridge inspection activities will take place by barge at numerous structures between Middleport and Galen (Orleans, Monroe, & Wayne Counties) as part of NYSDOT’s Bridge Inspection Program (Contract D031321).

Canal Bridges E-96 to E212 on the Erie Canal will be inspected under this program.

These waterborne inspections will take place in the 2016 and 2017 Navigation Seasons.

Warning signs will be placed at each end of the work zone.

Mariners should reduce speed, stop all forward motion, and proceed at a “No – Wake” speed when traversing these areas.
