Reduced depth: Erie Canal between Locks E7 & E8; Wed, 9/9; -2.5 ft; returning to normal 24-48 hrs later

Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – Schenectady Area

September 3, 2015

 

Mariners are advised of a reduction in water surface elevation and depths by as much as 2.5’ on the Erie Canal between Locks E-7 Vischer Ferry and E-8 Scotia. The water level will begin to drop on Tuesday, September 8th and will reach its minimum at around 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 9th.  It is estimated that the level will return to normal 24-48 hours after that.  This action is being taken to accommodate New York Power Authority’s flashboard adjustments at the Vischer Ferry Dam.
