Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – Tribes Hill to Yosts

October 10, 2023

Mariners are advised of spill containment and boom development training exercises occurring on the Mohawk River from Erie Canal Lock E-12 in Tribes Hill to Lock E-13 in Yosts throughout the day on Wednesday, October 11^th. Boaters should be aware of containment booms along the navigation channel and training exercise vessels traveling on this level and should reduce speed, stop all forward motion, and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when approaching participating vessels and under no circumstances shall any vessel exceed 5 MPH.

The Canal system is scheduled to close to navigation at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. All vessel operators should plan their trips to ensure they exit the system by that time.
