NOTICE TO MARINERS
CANAL SYSTEM UPDATE
HOURS OF OPERATION & LAST DAY OF NAVIGATION
September 27, 2023
The New York State Canal Corporation announced today the following update:
Hours of Operation
All locks and lift bridges on the Canal system are now operating daily between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Last Day of Navigation
The Canal system is scheduled to close to navigation at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. All recreational vessel operators should plan their trips accordingly to ensure they exit the system by that time. Commercial operators requesting passage after October 11 should contact Danielle LaRue at 315-423-2340 to apply for a Post Navigation Season Permit.
2024 Navigation Season
The Canal Corporation anticipates opening the Canal system in May 2024 for the 200th season of navigation. The opening date and hours of operation will be announced in a subsequent Notice to Mariners.
