Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – Sylvan Beach

August 11, 2023

 

Mariners are advised that a water ski show that will be occurring during Canal Fest Weekend at Sylvan Beach on Sunday, August 13^th from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  This event area will be occurring in the navigation channel, starting just east of the Main St. Bridge, SR 13 (E-63) over the Erie Canal and continuing west to the entrance of the Canal at Oneida Lake. Regatta buoys will be positioned at both ends of the event area. There will be breaks in between heats lasting no more than 35 minutes during which traffic may pass through as directed.

Law enforcement boats will be positioned to monitor boat traffic and safety boats will be present to direct boaters. Boaters must follow all instructions from the law enforcement and safety boats at the event. Boaters should expect minor delays and plan itineraries accordingly.
