Notice to Mariners

Erie and Cayuga-Seneca Canals

July 24, 2023

Mariners are advised of underwater inspections occurring on the Erie and Cayuga-Seneca Canals on the following schedule:

  • Tuesday, July 25th – Erie Canal – (Palmyra) Below Erie Canal Lock E-29 and west of Galloway Rd. Bridge (E-115) over the Erie Canal - Sluice Gate, Harrison Spillway Sill.  
  • Wednesday, July 26th – Cayuga-Seneca Canal (Seneca Falls) Above Lock CS 2/3 – South Dock Wall, Seneca Falls.
  • Wednesday, July 26th – Cayuga-Seneca Canal (Seneca Falls) Above Lock CS 2/3 –- Bayard Street, Banton Creek – South Crib and Headwall.

The inspection areas will be marked by a dive boat and commercial diver’s flags while divers are in the water. Boaters should reduce speed and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when transiting these areas.
