Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – Herkimer and Oneida Counties

May 26, 2023

Mariners are advised to use caution between Erie Canal Lock E-18 in Jacksonburg and Lock E-20 in Whitesboro and follow the Navigation Rules of the Road when transiting this area of the Canal. Navigation aids have been positioned to indicate the deepest areas of the channel due to recent storm runoff. Confluences of streams and the Canal are an average maximum depth of seven feet.
