Erie Canal – Lyons
May 8, 2023
Mariners are advised that bridge deck replacement, rehabilitation and painting activities are in progress on the NY Route 31 Bridge E-99A over the Erie Canal in the village of Lyons and will continue through the end of the day on Saturday, July 1, 2023. The bridge is located approximately 0.5 miles east of Erie Canal Lock E-27 in Lyons. The normal navigation channel width clearance will be reduced by one half the normal width, with scaffolding beneath the bridge on the closed half of the navigation channel. Construction signs are posted on both sides of the bridge. Normal overhead clearance will not be affected on the open half of the navigation channel, beneath the bridge. Spotters will alert workers of approaching vessels who will suspend work to allow vessels to pass under the bridge.
