 Notice to Mariners

Eastern Erie Canal

October 18, 2022

Mariners are advised of underwater inspections occurring on the Eastern Erie Canal on the following schedule:

  • Wednesday, October 19th – Guard Gate 1 (Crescent) – Above the Waterford Flight.
  • Thursday, October 20th – Erie Canal Lock E-13 (Yosts) – Southeast Guide Wall below the lock and Southwest Guide Wall above the lock.
  • Friday, October 21st – Fonda Terminal Wall (Fonda) – River Wall at the Fonda Section Maintenance Headquarters.  

The inspection areas will be marked by commercial diver’s flags while divers are in the water. Boaters should reduce speed and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when transiting these areas.
