Notice to Mariners

Champlain Canal – Whitehall

September 29, 2022

Mariners are advised of a delay in operation at Champlain Lock C-12 in Whitehall due to a Duck Race on Saturday, October 1st, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. The event will start at the Route 4 Bridge (C-29) and finish at the Saunders St. Bridge (C-30) over the Champlain Canal. The race will be held on the west side of the navigation channel with kayakers controlling the ducks. Boaters should reduce speed, stop all forward motion and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when approaching the event participants and may also be delayed for a short period of time during the race. Boaters should plan itineraries accordingly.
