 Notice to Mariners

Eastern Erie Canal

September 16, 2022

Mariners are advised of a bridge inspection on the Eastern Erie Canal, on the following schedule:

  • Tuesday, September 20th – State Route 5, Western Gateway Bridge (E-13) over the Erie Canal in Schenectady.

This bridge will be inspected using an Under Bridge Inspection Unit, which will be deployed from the deck of the bridge. Channel width may be reduced, and slight delays may occur due to a skiff moving below bridge being inspected.

Mariners should reduce speed, stop all forward motion, sound horns, and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when transiting this area.
