Swift Water Hazard: Erie Canal from Lock E30 Macedon to East Guard Lock

Canal Corporation forces will begin filling the Canal from the East Guard Lock at the Genesee River Crossing to Lock E-30 in Macedon on Monday, May 2. The Bushnells Basin and Cartersville Guard Gates, in this area of the Canal, will be partially opened to allow for debris flushing beneath the guard gates. Flashing yellow lights will be located at the guard gates to warn of a swift moving water hazard as the Canal fills. The guard gates will be fully raised after this area of the Canal is filled.
