Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – Ilion

September 9, 2020

Mariners are advised of bridge painting activities that will begin Thursday, September 10^th on the Route 51 Bridge (E-37A) over the Erie Canal in Ilion. Normal overhead clearance will be reduced by one foot on the south half of the navigation channel due to lighted scaffolding beneath the bridge. Boaters should use the north side of the channel when passing under the bridge. Construction signs are posted on both sides of the bridge.

Mariners should reduce speed, stop all forward motion, blow horns, and proceed at a "No-Wake" speed when traversing this area.
