Oswego Canal – Reopening Update
June 26, 2019
Mariners are advised the entire Oswego Canal from Lock O-1 Phoenix to Lock O-8 Oswego and to Lock E-23 Brewerton is scheduled to open on Thursday, June 27th, at 7:00 am. At that time Lock O-8 Oswego to Lock E-2 Waterford on the eastern Erie Canal and will be open to navigation. The western Erie Canal from Lock E-25 May’s Point to Tonawanda is also open to navigation.
Mariners are also advised that Erie Canal Lock E-24 Baldwinsville to Lock E-25 Mays Point and to Lock C/S-1 Cayuga remain closed due to high water levels and heavy flows from recent heavy rainfall, until further notice.
Mariners are reminded that they may encounter debris, high water, high current, and buoys off station in any sections recently reopened after a high-water event.
