Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – City of Utica

Mariners are advised of a tug and barge combo moored to the southern pier of the Leland Ave Bridge (E-43) over the Erie Canal. This effectively reduces the horizontal clearance from 104’ to 74’. Additionally, the elevation in this pool (E19-E20) is 1’ below normal. Furthermore, underwater dive inspections are occurring at Lock E-20 Whitesboro.

Mariners transiting this pool today and tomorrow, when approaching the Leland Ave Bridge, are to come to a complete stop and then proceed at idle speed under the bridge.

Mariners can expect some delays at Lock E-20 and so should adjust itineraries accordingly.
