Notice to Mariners

New York State Canal System

August 10, 2017

Mariners are advised of the following important dates:

Wednesday, September 13^th – The last day of 10 PM closing for specifically designated late locks & lift bridges (see /Boating-Information for a listing of these structures). After September 13^th, all locks and lift bridges will operate from 7 AM to 5 PM.

Wednesday, October 11^th – The last day of the official Navigation Season on the New York State Canal System. After this date, only vessels which have obtained commercial permits and work permits may pass through canal structures.

Tuesday, October 31^st – The last day commercially permitted vessels may pass through canal structures on the Erie Canal, Oswego Canal, and Cayuga-Seneca Canal.

Thursday, November 30^th – The last day commercially permitted vessels may pass through canal structures on the Champlain Canal.
