Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – St Johnsville to Whitesboro

June 6, 2017

Mariners are advised that Erie Canal Locks E-16 St Johnsville through E-20 Whiteboro will be closed at 1 PM today due to high current. This extends the closure announced earlier today. See

The Erie Canal is now closed from Lock E8 to Lock E20.

The 48 hour per month limit on mooring on canal walls has been suspended between Waterford and Little Falls.

Vessels currently in navigation pools bound by these locks may call the Navigation Program Manager at (518) 461-0942 for direction to an appropriate harbor.
