Erie Canal – Macedon/Rochester

Mariners are advised that the last of the large, high-profile shipments of beer making tanks on route to Rochester is mooring tonight at the upper wall of Erie Canal Lock E-30 Macedon. It will be continuing tomorrow at 6:00 AM westbound at a speed of about 4 MPH, taking about an hour to lock through each lock. Empty barges will be starting to return eastbound shortly.

Mariners encountering these shipments are likely to experience delays. Plan itineraries accordingly.

All mariners are to stay as far from these vessels as practical, as they can create turbulence in the channel not regularly encountered in this section of canal.
