Western Erie Oswego and Cayuga Seneca Canals

August 10, 2026

 

Mariners are advised of underwater inspections occurring on the Erie and Cayuga Seneca Canals on the following schedule:

  • Monday, August 10th – Court Street Dam Taintor Gate in Rochester.
  • Tuesday, August 11th – Cayuga Seneca Canal Lock CS-1 in Cayuga Taintor Gate and Lock CS-2/3 in Seneca Falls Power Station Abutments and Piers and Oswego Canal Lock O-8 in Oswego Northeast Approach Wall.

The inspection areas will be marked by commercial diver’s flags while divers are in the water. Boaters must come to a full stop, use caution, and proceed at a "No Wake" speed, and under no circumstances exceed 5 mph. Boaters must avoid inspection areas.
