  Notice to Mariners

Champlain and Eastern Erie Canals

 Rotterdam Northumberland Mechanicville and Stillwater

July 23, 2026

 

Mariners are advised that bridge inspections will be occurring on structures over the Erie Canal on the following schedule:

• Monday July 27^th
  • NY 103 Bridge (E-16) over the Erie Canal in Rotterdam at Erie Canal Lock E-9 in Rotterdam.
• Tuesday, July 28^th
  • Route 4 Bridge (C-10) over the Champlain Canal in Northumberland, north of Champlain Canal Lock C-5.
• Wednesday, July 29^th
  • Route 4 Bridge (C-10) over the Champlain Canal in Northumberland, north of Champlain Canal Lock C-5.
• Thursday, July 30^th
  • Route 4 Bridge (C-10) over the Champlain Canal in Northumberland, north of Champlain Canal Lock C-5.
  • Route 67 Bridge (C-4A) over the Champlain Canal below Champlain Canal Lock C-3 in Mechanicville.
  • Old Route 67 Bridge (C-6) over the Champlain Canal above Champlain Canal Lock C-4 in Stillwater.
• Friday, July 31^st
  • NY 103 Bridge (E-16) over the Erie Canal in Rotterdam at Erie Canal Lock E-9 in Rotterdam.

Channel width may be reduced, and delays may occur due to a bucket boat and/or skiff moving below each bridge being inspected.

Boaters should reduce speed, sound horns, stop all forward motion and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when transiting these areas and under no circumstances shall any vessel exceed 5 MPH.
