Western Erie Canal – May’s Point to Clyde
July 16, 2026
Mariners are advised that the Erie Canal from Erie Canal Lock E-25 in May’s Point to Lock E-26 in Clyde is closed immediately due to low water conditions and corrective maintenance on the movable dam at Lock E-25. The movable dam will be removed from the water tomorrow, 7/17/26, starting at 10 am. This will temporarily result in water levels dropping to winter conditions during the day. Boaters should secure vessels on this level of the Canal. The movable dam is anticipated to be fully reset by the end of the day Friday, 7/17/26. It is expected that this level will gradually recover to normal navigation level over the weekend. Updates will follow.
