Notice to Mariners

Champlain Canal – Mechanicville Halfmoon and Waterford

July 6, 2026

 

Mariners are advised of underwater inspections occurring on the Champlain Canal on the following schedule:

  • Monday, July 6th – Champlain Canal Lock C-3 in Mechanicville – Southeast approach cribs.
  • Tuesday, July 7th – Champlain Canal Lock C-3 in Mechanicville – Lock Chamber and surrounding area. Southwest and Northwest Approach Walls
  • Wednesday, July 8th – Champlain Canal Lock C-2 in Halfmoon – Lock Chamber and surrounding area.
  • Thursday, July 9th – Champlain Canal Lock C-1 in Waterford – Lock chamber and surrounding area.
  • Friday, July 10th – Champlain Canal Lock C-1 in Waterford – Taintor Gate.

 

The inspection areas will be marked by commercial diver’s flags while divers are in the water. Boaters must come to a full stop, use caution, and proceed at a "No Wake" speed, and under no circumstances exceed 5 mph. Boaters must avoid inspection areas.
