Champlain and Eastern Erie Canals

Fort Ann Northumberland Halfmoon and Waterford

June 26, 2026

 

Mariners are advised that bridge inspections will be occurring on structures over the Erie Canal on the following schedule:

  • Monday, June 29th – NY Route 22 - Bridge (C-25) over the Champlain Canal in Fort Ann and Champlain Canal Lock C-5 Access Road – Bridge (C-8) over the Champlain Canal in Northumberland.
  • Tuesday, June 30th – Champlain Canal Lock C-2 Access Road Bridge (C-3) in Halfmoon.
  • Wednesday, July 1st – Second Street/Delaware Ave. (Bridge E-1) over the Erie Canal in Waterford.

 

Channel width may be reduced, and delays may occur due to a bucket boat and/or skiff moving below each bridge being inspected.

Boaters should reduce speed, sound horns, stop all forward motion and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when transiting these areas and under no circumstances shall any vessel exceed 5 MPH.
