Eastern Erie Canal – Schenectady Crescent and Colonie

June 26, 2026

 

Mariners are advised that bridge inspections will be occurring on structures over the Erie Canal on the following schedule:

  • Monday, June 29th – Freeman’s Bridge Road - Bridge (E-11) over the Erie Canal in Schenectady.
  • Tuesday, June 30th – Guard Gate #2 Bridge over the Erie Canal in Crescent.
  • Wednesday, July 1st and Thursday, July 2nd – I 87 Northway (Bridge E-7A)) over the Erie Canal in Colonie.

 

Channel width may be reduced, and delays may occur due to a bucket boat and/or skiff moving below each bridge being inspected.

Boaters should reduce speed, sound horns, stop all forward motion and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when transiting these areas and under no circumstances shall any vessel exceed 5 MPH.
