Notice to Mariners

Eastern Erie Canal – Niskayuna

June 3, 2026

 

Mariners are advised that underwater repair activities are in progress in the navigation channel on the Erie Canal between Erie Canal Lock E-7 in Vischer Ferry and Lock E-8 in Rotterdam, in the vicinity of Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory water intake. These activities will continue through the end of the day on Thursday, June 4th. This area is located between Buoy G "53" and Buoy R "56".

The work area is marked by a dive boat and commercial diver’s flags while divers are in the water. Boaters should reduce speed and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when transiting this area and under no circumstances exceed 5mph.
