NOTICE TO MARINERS

Eastern Erie Canal – Rotterdam to Fort Plain

June 2, 2026

 

Mariners are advised that the water levels from Erie Canal Lock E-9 in Rotterdam to Lock E-15 in Fort Plain continue to experience low water levels of up to 2 feet below the published navigation pool, due to debris in moveable dams and low water supply. Boaters should expect drafts of 10-11 feet in this area. Boaters with deeper draft vessels should use caution.

The Canal Corporation anticipates that additional debris clearing will be conducted through the rest of this week, resulting in water levels gradually stabilizing and returning to normal.
