Underwater Inspections: Eastern Erie Canal - Amsterdam to Yosts

Notice to Mariners

Eastern Erie Canal 

May 29, 2026

 

Mariners are advised of underwater inspections occurring on the Eastern Erie Canal that may cause intermittent delays at locations on the following schedule:

  • Monday, June 1st – Lock E-13 in Yosts, - Southeast and southwest guide walls.
  • Tuesday, June 2nd – Lock E-13 in Yosts - Lock and surrounding areas.
  • Wednesday, June 3rd – Lock E-12 in Tribes Hill - Lock and surrounding areas.
  • Thursday, June 4th – Lock E-11 in Amsterdam - Lock and surrounding areas, also moveable dam spillway on the south end of the dam.

The inspection areas will be marked by a dive boat and commercial diver’s flags while divers are in the water. Boaters must come to a full stop, use caution, and proceed at a "No Wake" speed, and under no circumstances exceed 5 mph. Boaters should wait for clearance to enter these locks.
