Notice to Mariners
Western Erie Canal – Pittsford
October 31, 2025
Mariners are advised of a racing shell regatta occurring on Saturday, November 1st from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Approximately 70 racing shells will be participating. Rowers will start each race at the Cartersville Guard Gate and proceed west to the Clover St. Bridge (E-141) over the Erie Canal. Safety launches will be located at both ends of the course to monitor traffic. Law enforcement will be present.
Boaters must reduce speed, stop all forward motion and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when approaching event participants, and under no circumstances exceed 5 mph. Slight delays may occur. Law enforcement will be present.

The Canal system is scheduled to close to navigation at 6:00 pm on Monday, November 3, 2025. All commercial and recreational vessel operators must plan their trips accordingly to ensure they exit the system by that time.
