Notice to Mariners

Oswego Canal and Cayuga Lake – Fulton and Ithaca

October 28, 2025

 

Mariners are advised of underwater inspections occurring on the Oswego Canal and Ithaca on the following schedule:

  • Wednesday, October 29th – Lock O-2 in Fulton, lock chamber and surrounding area.
  • Thursday, October 30th – Ithaca, western breakwater area.

The inspection areas will be marked by a dive boat and commercial diver’s flags while divers are in the water. Boaters must come to a full stop, use caution, and proceed at a "No Wake" speed, and under no circumstances exceed 5 mph.

The Canal system is scheduled to close to navigation at 6:00 pm on Monday, November 3, 2025. All commercial and recreational vessel operators must plan their trips accordingly to ensure they exit the system by that time.
