Notice to Mariners

Champlain Canal – Waterford and Whitehall

September 12, 2025

 

Mariners are advised of underwater inspections occurring on the Champlain Canal on the following schedule.

  • Monday, September 15th – 126th Bridge (C-2) over the Champlain Canal in Waterford.
  • Wednesday, September 17th – Ryder Rd. Bridge (C-27) over the Champlain Canal in Whitehall.

These bridges will be inspected using an under-bridge inspection unit (UBIU), which will be deployed from the deck of the bridge. Channel width may be reduced, and slight delays may occur due to a skiff moving below the bridge. Boaters should reduce speed, stop all forward motion, proceed at a "No Wake" speed and under no circumstances shall any vessel exceed 5mph.
