Notice to Mariners

Eastern Erie Canal – Waterford and Crescent

September 5, 2025

 

Mariners are advised of underwater inspections occurring on the Erie Canal on the following schedule.

• Monday, September 8^th – Guard Gate #1 (Crescent) – Sluice gate.
• Tuesday, September 9^th – Guard Gate #2 (Crescent) – North wall above the guard gate.
• Wednesday, September 10^th – Erie Canal Lock E-2 (Waterford) – Northeast wall below the lock above the terminal.
• Thursday, September 11^th – Erie Canal Lock E-2 (Waterford) – Southeast approach wall below the lock.

The inspection areas will be marked by commercial diver’s flags while divers are in the water. Boaters should use caution and proceed at a "No Wake" speed of not more than 5 mph in these areas.                               A chart showing the affected area can be found at:
