NOTICE TO MARINERS

CANAL SYSTEM UPDATE

HOURS OF OPERATION & LAST DAY OF NAVIGATION

September 3, 2025

 

The New York State Canal Corporation announced today the following update:

Hours of Operation

All locks and lift bridges on the Canal system will operate daily beginning Thursday, September 11, between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Last Day of Navigation 

The Canal system is scheduled to close to navigation at 6:00 pm on Monday, November 3, 2025. Due to the late closing date this season and the need to start winter maintenance projects, no post-season permits for commercial traffic will be issued. All vessel operators should plan their trips accordingly to ensure they exit the system by that time.

2026 Navigation Season  

The Canal Corporation anticipates opening the Canal system in May 2026 for the 202^nd season of navigation. The opening date and hours of operation will be announced in a subsequent Notice to Mariners.
