Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – Niskayuna

May 19, 2025

 

Mariners are advised of an underwater dive inspection occurring on the Erie Canal on the following schedule:

• Tuesday, May 20^th – Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory water intake area, in the navigation channel between Buoy R "50A" and Buoy R "56".

The inspection area will be marked by commercial diver’s flags while divers are in the water. While Canal locks remain closed in this area, local boaters should use caution and proceed at a "No Wake" speed of not more than 5 mph in this area.                                                                                                                                                                                         A chart showing the affected area can be found at
