Notice to Mariners

Cayuga Seneca Canal – Waterloo

October 2, 2026

 

Mariners are advised that a rowing regatta will be taking place on Saturday, October 3, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Approximately 60 rowing shells accompanied by coaching boats will be participating in the event. The regatta course will begin at Seneca Yacht Club, continue into Seneca Lake and return to Seneca Yacht Club. Law enforcement will be present.

 

Mariners should reduce speed, stop all forward motion and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when approaching event participants, and under no circumstances exceed 5 mph.  Slight delays may occur.

The Canal system is scheduled to close to navigation at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. All commercial and recreational vessel operators must plan their trips accordingly to ensure they exit the system by that time.
