Erie Canal – Waterford and Vischer Ferry

Mariners are advised of delays due to closures at locks and guard gates during underwater inspections occurring on the Erie Canal on the following schedule:
Monday, September 28 – Erie Canal Lock E-2 in Waterford – Lock Chamber and surrounding areas.
Tuesday, September 29 – Erie Canal Lock E-7 in Vischer Ferry – Lock Chamber and surrounding areas.
Wednesday, September 30 – Erie Canal Lock E-7 in Vischer Ferry – Upper Wing Wall and Northeast Approach Wall, and Guard Gate 1 above the Waterford Flight in Crescent.
Thursday, October 1 – Erie Canal Lock E-2 in Waterford – Southeast Approach Wall, and Guard Gate 2 and Sluice Gate above the Waterford Flight in Crescent.
The inspection areas will be marked by commercial diver’s flags while divers are in the water. Boaters must come to a full stop, use caution, and proceed at a "No Wake" speed, and under no circumstances exceed 5 mph. Boaters must avoid inspection areas. Boaters should contact the lock operators to schedule times to pass through locks and guard gates.
