Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – Sylvan Beach

September 17, 2026

 

Mariners are advised that vessel mooring will not be available to boaters at the Sylvan Beach Pier due to the annual Oneida Lake Chicken Wing Run from noon on Friday, September 18^th, until noon on Sunday, September 20^th. Approximately 100 powerboats will be tied to the wall during the event. The boater group has blocked the entire north side of the Canal for fee required boat parking on the wall. Due to existing submerged hazards, vessel operators are advised to always remain within the navigation channel. Law enforcement boats will be present. Boaters should plan their itineraries accordingly.
