  Notice to Mariners

Champlain Canal – Fort Miller Fort Edward and Whitehall

September 11, 2026

 

Mariners are advised of bridge inspections occurring on structures over the Champlain Canal on the following schedule:

Monday, September 14 – Fort Miller Road Bridge (C-12) over the Champlain Canal, above Champlain Canal Lock C-6 in Fort Miller.

Tuesday, September 15 – Lock 6 Road Bridge (C-11) over the Champlain Canal, below Champlain Canal Lock C-6 in Fort Miller.

Wednesday, September 16 – New Swamp Road Bridge (C-19) over the Champlain Canal, below Champlain Canal Lock C-9 in Kingsbury.

Thursday, September 17 – East Street Bridge (C-17) over the Champlain Canal, below Champlain Canal Lock C-8 in Fort Edward.

Friday, September 18 – Saunders Street Bridge (C-30) over the Champlain Canal, below Champlain Canal Lock C-12 in Whitehall.

 

Channel width may be reduced, and slight delays may occur due to a bucket boat and skiff moving below each bridge being inspected.

Boaters should reduce speed, sound horns, stop all forward motion and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when transiting these areas and under no circumstances shall any vessel exceed 5 MPH.
