Notice to Mariners

Champlain Canal

September 30, 2022

Mariners are advised of a bridge inspection occurring on the Champlain Canal, on the following schedule:

  • Monday, October 3rd – 126th St., Rt. 4 Bridge (C-2) over the Champlain Canal in Waterford, Saratoga County.

This bridge will be inspected using an Under Bridge Inspection Unit, which will be deployed from the deck of the bridge. Channel width may be reduced, and slight delays may occur due to a skiff moving below the bridge.

Mariners should reduce speed, stop all forward motion, sound horns, and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when transiting this area.

The Canal system is scheduled to close to navigation at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, October 12, 2022.       

All vessel operators should plan their trips to ensure they exit the system by that time. For more
