Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – Tribes Hill to Yosts

October 10, 2023

Mariners are advised of spill containment and boom development training exercises occurring on the Mohawk River from Erie Canal Lock E-12 in Tribes Hill to Lock E-13 in Yosts throughout the day on Wednesday, October 11th. Boaters should be aware of containment booms along the navigation channel and training exercise vessels traveling on this level and should reduce speed, stop all forward motion, and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when approaching participating vessels and under no circumstances shall any vessel exceed 5 MPH.

The Canal system is scheduled to close to navigation at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. All vessel operators should plan their trips to ensure they exit the system by that time.
