Notice to Mariners

Champlain Canal – Smith’s Basin to Comstock

October 10, 2023

Mariners are advised that water level in the Canal from Champlain Canal Lock C-9 in Smith’s Basin to Lock C-11 in Comstock will be lowered by approximately 1 foot lower than normal this evening, Tuesday, October 10th, due to dam inspections. This lower water level may affect boats and docks on this area of the Champlain Canal and will continue until the end of the day on Wednesday, October 11th.

The Canal system is scheduled to close to navigation at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. All vessel operators should plan their trips to ensure they exit the system by that time.
