Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – Scotia

September 29, 2023

 

Mariners are advised of a regatta being held on Sunday, October 1st, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event will start east of Railroad Bridge (E-10) and finish on the west side of Isle of the Cayugas, at Jumping Jacks Drive In. Approximately 300 rowing shells will be participating in the event.

Boaters should reduce speed, stop all forward motion, and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when approaching event participants and under no circumstances shall any vessel exceed 5 MPH.

Law enforcement will be present.

The Canal system is scheduled to close to navigation at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. All vessel operators should plan their trips to ensure they exit the system by that time.
