Notice to Mariners
Eastern Erie and Champlain Canals
August 1, 2023
Mariners are advised that bridge inspections will be occurring on the Eastern Erie and Champlain Canals according to the following schedule:
- Wednesday, 8/2/23 – ADK Northway Bridge, I 87 (E7A) over the Erie Canal in Halfmoon.
- Thursday, 8/3/23 – ADK Northway Bridge, I 87 (E7A) over the Erie Canal in Halfmoon
- Friday, 8/4/23 – US 4, Poultney St. Bridge (C-29) over the Champlain Canal in Whitehall.
Channel width may be reduced, and slight delays may occur due to a bucket boat and safety boat moving below each bridge being inspected.
Boaters should reduce speed, stop all forward motion and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when transiting these areas. Inspectors may be contacted on Marine Channel 13 for clearance to pass.
