Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – Rome and Waterford

July 31, 2023

Mariners are advised of underwater inspections occurring on the Erie Canal on the following schedule:

• Tuesday, August 1^st  – Guard Gate 6 in East Rome and Guard Gate 7 in West Rome, in the vicinity of Bellamy Harbor Park.
• Thursday, August 3^rd – Lock E-2 lower approach wall, across from the Waterford Harbor Visitor Center.

The inspection areas will be marked by a dive boat and commercial diver’s flags while divers are in the water. Boaters should reduce speed and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when transiting this area.
