Notice to Mariners
Erie Canal – Utica Rome
June 29, 2015
Mariners are advised of routine bridge maintenance activities that will be occurring on the following bridges now through September 1st:
- E-44B, I-790 northbound exit ramp
- E-44C, State Routes 8 & 12
- E-48A, State Route 291
- E-50A, State Routes 49 & 365 eastbound
- E-50B, State Routes 49 & 365 westbound
Maintenance activities may involve containment structures that could reduce overhead clearances, but not to less than the eastern Erie Canal governing air draft of 21.0’ for more than half of the channel width at any given time. Additionally, on-water activities could occasionally reduce channel widths. At all times a minimum channel width of 50’ with a minimum overhead clearance of 21’ (at normal pool elevation) will be maintained.
