Notice to Mariners

Cayuga-Seneca Canal – Cayuga

June 2, 2023

Mariners are advised that Cayuga-Seneca Canal Lock CS-1 in Cayuga will be closed to vessel traffic effective immediately due to the presence of a nearby tree that was damaged this evening in a small brush fire that has since been extinguished.  No vessels will be permitted to moor on the lower end of Lock CS-1 until the damaged tree is removed.  The tree could pose a hazard to the lower end of the Lock and boaters.  The damaged trees will be assessed in the morning and removed as soon as possible.
