Notice to Mariners

Update Oswego Canal – Phoenix

June 1, 2023

Mariners are advised that the Canal Corporation will manually lift the Culvert St. (bascule) Lift Bridge (O-4) north of Oswego Canal Lock O-1 in Phoenix on Saturday, June 3rd, beginning at 7:00 am. The first locking at Lock O-1 will occur at 8:00 am with the final locking of the day for higher air draft vessels occurring at 6:00 pm.

Mariners mobilizing to the Oswego Canal from the south for the scheduled bridge lifting should plan their itineraries accordingly as mooring capacity and amenities in Phoenix are limited.

All locks along the Oswego Canal will operate until 10:00 pm on Saturday, June 3rd.

Additional planned lifts of the bridge may be necessary before a permanent repair is made to the bridge.  These planned lifts will be announced in future NTMs.

The Canal Corporation continues to pursue a permanent repair to the bridge’s motor and appreciates the public’s patience during this time.
