Champlain Canal – Fort Edward to Comstock

Mariners are advised of harmful algae blooms (HAB) that have been reported at several locations in the Canal between Champlain Canal Lock C-7 in Ft. Edward and Lock C-11 in Comstock.

Exposure to HABs and toxins can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea or vomiting; skin, eye or throat irritation and allergic reactions or breathing difficulties. People and pets should avoid contact with HABs and should rinse off with clean water if contact occurs.

No swimming or other water related activities should be attempted in these areas of the Canal. Boaters should use gloves when handling lines in the lock chamber. Avoid water contact while condition persists.
