Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – Crescent & Vischer Ferry

The Blenheim-Gilboa Project working with the Canal Corporation will install flashboards at Crescent & Vischer Ferry dams starting Tuesday, May 7, 2019. These activities will cause fluctuations in water levels which may affect marinas, boats and docks. The schedule is as follows:

 

  • Monday, May 6 - Water level at Vischer Ferry starts approaching crest in the PM.

  • Tuesday, May 7 - Water level at Vischer Ferry 0.5’ below crest by AM. Installation of flashboards starts at Vischer Ferry Dam D.

  • Wednesday, May 8 – Water level at Vischer Ferry remains at 0.5’ below crest in AM & PM. Installation of flashboards continues at Vischer Ferry Dam E.

  • Thursday, May 9 – Water level at Vischer Ferry remains at 0.5’ below crest in AM & PM. Installation of flashboards on Dam F and fish deterrent systems completed at Vischer Ferry. Relocate to Crescent. Water level rises to 211.0’ in PM.

  • Friday, May 10– Water level at Vischer Ferry pond rises from elevation 211.0’ in AM to 213.3’. Crescent pond drops to 0.5’ below crest in AM & PM. Installation of flashboards completed at Crescent in the PM. Crescent pond rises to 185.0’ in the PM as river flow permits.

    Barring any complications or inclement weather, the flashboard installation will be completed Friday, May 10. Unforeseen precipitation and high water conditions may cause a delay in this schedule.
