Notice to Mariners

Cayuga-Seneca Canal – Watkins Glen/Montour Falls

October 14, 2016

Mariners are advised that dredging equipment has been mobilized to the Seneca Canal (sometimes locally referred to as the Chemung Canal) including a 90’ tugboat that will occasionally be moored beneath the Route 414 bridge (S-15).  This equipment will intermittently reduce the effective width of the channel from now until the end of the navigation season.

Chart 14786 CS-1 & 14791 insets show the affected area can be found at http://www.canals.ny.gov/navinfo/charts/14786cs1w.png & http://www.canals.ny.gov/navinfo/charts/14791w.png.

Features along the Seneca Lake branch of the Cayuga-Seneca Canal are listed by mileage at http://www.canals.ny.gov/wwwapps/navinfo/navinfo.aspx?waterway=senecalake.
